Introduction Glaucoma is an optic neuropathy that sometimes results in irreversible blindness.1 After cataracts, glaucoma is the second most prevalent cause of global blindness,2 and it is estimated that almost 80 million people worldwide will be affected by this optic neuropathy by the year 2020.3 Because of the high prevalence of this ocular disease, the economic and social implications of glaucoma have been outlined in recent studies.4,5 In Africa, primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) is more prevalent than primary-angle closure glaucoma, and over the next 4 years, the prevalence of POAG in Africa is projected to increase by 23% corresponding to an increase from 6.2 million to 8.0 million affected individuals.3 Consequently, in Africa, there have been recommendations to incorporate glaucoma screening procedures into routine eye examinations as well as implement glaucoma blindness control programs.6,7

What is the Real Cause of Glaucoma?
Introduction: The term glaucoma refers to a group of diseases that have a characteristic optic neuropathy with associated visual field loss in common. Intraocular pressure has been considered to be the only causal factor for glaucoma and the only factor that can be manipulated to alter the course of the disease. But considering high intraocular pressure as the only factor responsible for glauco...
متن کاملThe effect of low dose of ketamine on intraocular pressure in patients undergoing cataract surgery
Background: Cataract surgery is one of the most common surgeries in the world, especially in elderly patients, and often performed topically with sedative agents. Ketamine is one of the most commonly used agents and the effect of different doses on intraocular pressure is in dispute. The present study investigates the effect of a low dose of ketamine on intraocular pressure in patients undergoi...
متن کاملIdentification of the most important factors of ethnic differences in anthropometric dimensions of Iranian workers using the decision tree
Background and aims: Anthropometry is the branch of human science that considers the physical measurement of the human body, especially size and shape. One application of anthropometrical data in ergonomics is the design of working space and the development of industrialized products. So that the tools, equipment and workstations, which designed based on the physical dimensions of the workers, ...
متن کاملAutomated Analysis of Pressure Build up Tests Affected by Phase Redistribution
Analytical Solutions and type curves for the constant rate radial flow of fluid in both conventional and naturally fractured reservoirs including the effect of wellbore phase redistribution are presented. An automated procedure for non-linear least square minimization using the analytical solutions and their derivatives with respect to the unknown parameters developed to analyze the pressur...
متن کاملShort-Term Effect of Standard Automated Perimetry Testing on Intraocular Pressure in Patients with Open-Angle Glaucoma
Purpose. To evaluate the short-term effect of standard automated perimetry (SAP) testing on intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma (OAG). Methods. We tested 45 patients (71 eyes) with OAG that had stable IOP under medical treatment. IOP was measured four times using an iCare rebound tonometer (RBT) immediately before, immediately after, 10 minutes after, and 20 minutes ...
